As Chairperson of KENSJA beginning in 2014 to 2017, Ms. Omungo demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing the need for building the capacity of journalists to be effective in reporting on environment and science. She showed leadership in guiding members on the need for evidence-based solutions in the areas of concern like agriculture, public health, and environmental sustainability.
As CEO of the African Genetic Biocontrol Consortium, Ms. Omungo assumes a critical leadership role at a time when innovative, science-driven approaches are increasingly needed to address food security, pest management, and ecological resilience. Her wealth of experience, strategic vision, and commitment to stakeholder engagement position her well to guide the African Genetic Biocontrol Consortium in achieving its mission and expanding its impact across the continent.
